Experiment § Carbon fiber reinforced resin

Carbon fiber reinforcement method: Use carbon fiber to cover the walls and beams of damaged buildings to achieve the effect of reinforcing the building structure against external forces. Common methods of implementation: 1. Clean up the damaged parts of the building.

2. Repair the pothole with primer and mortar (Figure 1). 3. Coated with carbon fiber reinforced resin for fixing. 4. After attaching the carbon-fiber mesh, apply a layer of carbon fiber reinforcing resin (Figure 2, 3). 5. Carry out surface cement application after curing.

The use of carbon fiber has many advantages, such as high strength, lightweight, and good corrosion resistance. We have developed a product for related applications: two-component carbon fiber reinforced resin NF868. This product has a high thixotropic coefficient (Figure 4), good adhesion, long operation time, good operation after mixing, high solid content, and excellent tensile strength. At present, this product has been used in the structural restoration of historic buildings (Figure 5), and you are welcome to contact us if you are interested.

Activity § Visit to Yiwu National High School

Students from Yiwu National High School visited the factory (Figure 1). The activity process is the whole factory tour, the introduction of the production process, sharing of product application, explanation of basic chemical knowledge, simple DIY, and Q&A interaction (Figure 2-5). The students said: "This visit learned how the factory works, the manufacturing process and practical application of glue, and the basic knowledge of moisture curing, UV curing, and carbon fiber materials and it really opened my eyes!" We hope that through activities, students can expand their horizons, increase their interest in the field of chemistry and learn more knowledge.

Knowledge § Can epoxy resin cure with moisture (2)?

The reaction of ketimine and moisture is limited to thin layers, and the reaction speed with epoxy resin is slow, and the application with a slight thickness will react more slowly, and may even react incompletely. The amines produced by the reaction are irritating, and some are classified as poisons. Moisture will whiten the surface of the cured product, and the appearance will not be beautiful. The cured product itself has medium strength but is harder and brittle. Volatile ketones may contaminate the workpiece, which is its disadvantage. This system is more suitable for outdoor use, as a primer, and finally covered with a topcoat, so that there will be no appearance problems.

Living § the charm of hometown

My hometown, Vietnam, has experienced colonial rule in many countries, so there are many buildings and monuments with strong foreign cultures. North Vietnam has the world-famous Halong Bay, surrounded by limestone and steep cliff islands, shrouded in mist and beautiful like a fairyland. There are people who live on the shore by fishing and live in floating houses (Figure 1, 2). In the middle of Vietnam, there is the ancient town of Hoi An full of Chinese culture, and there is a century-old ancient house standing on the old street, which is like walking into a history museum. The representative of South Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh City, known as the "Little Paris of the Orient", with numerous French-style buildings. In addition, Vietnam also has many unique dishes and snacks, such as square rice dumplings (Figure 3), Vietnamese French buns, and fried elephant fish, if you have the opportunity, you must try them. It has been nearly four years since I came to Taiwan inadvertently and now whether in terms of cultural customs, living environment, eating habits, and interpersonal relationships, I have gradually adapted and blended in, and I can be regarded as half a Taiwanese. But "I am a stranger alone in a foreign land, and I miss my relatives every festive season" Whenever I am free, I always think of my distant home. For me, the biggest charm of my hometown does not come from the beautiful scenery and familiar food, but from the missed family and friends, fond memories, and deep homesickness.
