Experiment § Multi-Functional Polyurethane Structural Adhesive

Polyurethane (PU) resins offer excellent flexibility and impact resistance, making them widely used in applications such as mechanical rollers and component sealing. In certain bonding scenarios, traditional formulations often lack sufficient adhesive strength to meet high shear requirements, limiting broader applications. To address high-shear applications, we developed the two-component JU029 series, which demonstrates outstanding adhesion to both metals and plastics. For example, aluminum-to-aluminum tensile tests show a shear strength up to 133 Kgf/cm² (Fig. 1,2). In PET film bonding tests, failure occurred in the film itself rather than the adhesive (Fig. 3). JU029 also features non-sag thixotropic properties, making it suitable for vertical-surface applications (Fig. 4). Product specifications: Component A viscosity 100,000–180,000 cps, Component B 1,000–2,000 cps, mix ratio 1:1, and Shore D hardness 62 after room-temperature curing, combining high strength with good flexibility. Reaction rates can be adjusted, and the adhesive is available in 400 ml and 50 ml dual-cartridge formats (Fig. 5). Activity § HERO! HITO!

We reserved a theater and invited colleagues and their families to watch the Taiwanese film Road to the Championship. The film documents the Chinese Taipei team’s journey—from being an underestimated underdog to overcoming challenges and advancing all the way to the Tokyo Dome, ultimately winning the championship through sheer performance and determination. The players’ mutual trust, encouragement, and pure passion for baseball moved many of our colleagues to tears. One of the most memorable aspects was their attitude in the face of setbacks—they showed no fear and never backed down, drawing strength from failures and moving forward with determination. This perseverance toward their goals and spirit of teamwork are not limited to the field; they are equally applicable to our workplace and daily lives, and are worth learning from and putting into practice.

Knowledge § Why are anti-fog coatings not resistant to water washing?

The anti-fog mechanism relies on the presence of an anti-fogging agent in the coating formulation. During drying, this agent migrates to the surface. The additive is highly hydrophilic and reduces the water contact angle, allowing moisture to spread into a uniform water film on the coating surface rather than forming discrete droplets, thereby achieving the anti-fog effect. When an anti-fog coating is immersed in water, if there is no chemical bonding between the anti-fogging agent and the coating matrix, the agent can dissolve into the water, resulting in loss of anti-fog performance. If chemical bonding exists between the anti-fogging agent and the coating, it is less likely to dissolve into water. However, another issue arises: improved compatibility between the two components prevents the agent from migrating to the surface during drying, and thus the anti-fog effect is not achieved.

Living § This Is What Climbing a 3,000-Meter Peak Feels Like

I’ve been to Hehuanshan before, but I had never truly challenged one of the 100 Peaks above 3,000 meters. So when I saw the “100 Peaks Challenge,” I signed up without hesitation. This time, we took on Hehuan North Peak (ranked No. 34 among the 100 Peaks). At 5 a.m., we set off in the dark. The temperature was only 2°C, and moving through the darkness, I didn’t feel much at first. But as we approached the 1 km mark, the slope suddenly became steep, and the climb grew much more demanding—I was exhausted and out of breath. Just then, the sky began to lighten, and together we were greeted by an incredibly beautiful sunrise. Before us, a sea of clouds filled the valleys, with mountain ranges encircling us on all sides. “Wow, it’s so beautiful!”—that was the only reaction that came to mind. The sun I usually see from below now seemed to be at the same level as me. Layers of clouds and ridgelines stretched into the distance, and the vast view was so overwhelming that I instinctively held my breath, only then realizing I was completely surrounded by such beauty. Later, with steady encouragement from my teammate Kai-Ge along the way, I successfully reached the summit. This journey was a personal challenge—I wanted to push myself a little further in physical endurance. And when I finally stood at the top, I suddenly realized: I can actually do this.
