Experiment § PDO as a green raw material

U.S. DuPont uses corn to extract 1,3 propylene glycol (Bio PDO, TM) with a chemical structure. The chemical structure extracted from this plant can be continuously produced and is in line with environmentally friendly raw materials. In the production process, it can reduce carbon consumption by 40%, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the raw materials are biodegradable. The price of raw materials is currently twice to three times that of general synthetics. There is no immediate advantage in the PU industry in a short time. However, in the electronics industry where green carbon footprint calculations are valued, this part is worthy of attention. Everwide Chemical uses DuPont raw materials to develop moisture-curing adhesive FS043, of which environmentally friendly raw materials account for 57% of the formula, which can be used for filling, bonding, and caulking. We look forward to contributing to the sustainable development of the earth in the future.

Activity § Towards a sustainable future

In the past ten years of training, Everbright Chemicals has continuously improved its hardware and software equipment, strengthened our research and development capabilities, strived to improve the quality of products, and strived to meet the needs of each customer. In 2005, we passed the ISO9001: 2000 version certification, and successfully passed the ISO9001: 2008 revision certification in 2008. Up to now, "R&D and innovation" and "increasing customer value" are our quality policies. In fact, we usually implement many quality-related measures, and the ISO system is to reviews these behaviors in a more institutional and rational manner. In terms of environmental protection and labor safety, we usually attach great importance to the company's internal environmental management, committed to reducing environmental pollution, promoting work safety knowledge, and implementing labor safety policies. In addition to the communication of ideas, we have also participated in a large number of external training courses, obtained relevant licenses, and established professional teachers to teach regularly within the company. After years of hard work, we have established a preliminary foundation in environmental protection and labor safety, and we need to further promote related work more rationally. In view of this, we have listed the certification of ISO14000 and OHSAS18000 as the focus of this year's business operations. We hope that every colleague will work together to achieve the goal so that the company can continue to operate for a long time.
Knowledge § What effect does the chlorine content of epoxy resin have on the cured product?
The structures of hydrolyzable chlorine and non-hydrolyzable chlorine in epoxy resins all appear at the chain end, which represents the position of the epoxy resin chain scission. In the case of the same molecular weight, resins with high chlorine content represent more defects after curing, such as lower Tg, higher water absorption, and so on, these characteristics have different effects for different applications. For example, the chlorine content of the resin used in civil engineering and construction is about the same as the strength of the cured resin. However, because resins with high chlorine content have almost no doubts about crystallization, manufacturers prefer to use them. In the field of semiconductor packaging, the hydrolyzable chlorine structure will hydrolyze to release hydrochloric acid when tested in a pressure cooker at high temperature and pressure, which will cause corrosion of electronic circuits. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to use epoxy resin with low chlorine content in semiconductor packaging.
Living § AQ

Everyone used to say that IQ (Intellectual Quotient) is used to judge whether a person is smart or not. When I was in the military, EQ (Emotional Quotient) became popular, and I found that the influence of personality on people is more important than IQ. Back then, on the shelves of bookstores, the title Q appeared on many books, replacing the trend of EQ. Once in Kinmen I accidentally saw a book called AQ (Adversity Quotient), I bought it with the mentality to join in the fun. The original intention of AQ is to deal with adversity. The first few pages of this book are a questionnaire that asks you to check your opinion on something. For example: Why is the exam bad? There are many options for answers. For example, the teacher can’t teach, the classmates have a poor reading atmosphere, the school’s equipment is not good, the textbook content is too bad, the self is not hard enough, the way of studying is not equal, all the answers can be double-selected. After the questionnaire is written, the score is calculated. The reason for choosing the answer is that the score is low due to external factors (teacher, school), and the answer selection tends to be high in self-review (self). This scoring logic surprised me because I got a failing score. But the analysis of the matter in this book is great. The real cause of adversity (bad exams) is actually not important, what is important is the perception of facing adversity. If the testee blames the adversity on external factors (teacher, school), there will never be a way to break through the adversity, because external factors will not change for the individual. In contrast, if the subject points the cause of adversity to himself, this adversity will have the opportunity to change through personal efforts, and the chance of breaking through the adversity will be greater. This book gave me a lot of inspiration. Since then, I have always kept the concept of AQ in mind. When encountering difficulties, I have been thinking: What else can I do?

Current Affairs § Safe anti-vibration measures

On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake shocked the world and a tsunami caused by the earthquake occurred in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. At a time when people are hungry, we carefully review and examine the various earthquake prevention measures in the factory. Everwide Chemical’s warehouse has a lot of raw materials in stock, and we only used pallets in the past (as shown in the picture on the left). However, in order to ensure the safety of materials and employees, we use a steel frame structure to build raw material shelves and use safety ropes to tie the top raw materials tightly to prevent the raw materials from collapsing due to uneven placement or earthquake shaking (as shown in the picture on the right). Earthquakes are natural disasters. In order to prevent them from happening before they happen, we must always be vigilant and pay attention to the safety measures around us to minimize disasters.
