Theme: Two-component Acrylic Structural Adhesive with Smooth Surface and Low Shrinkage Suitable for Inert Plastic Materials

This two-component acrylic structural adhesive is an adhesive material that can bond low surface energy (LSE) plastics, such as thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) inert plastic material. This adhesive can be achieved a good bonding on the inert plastic without the need for exotic surface preparation techniques.
However, most on the two-component acrylic adhesives on the market have large shrinkage due to the volume change factor (about 5-10% of polymerization shrinkage during the curing process). The shrinkage can affect the quality and durability of bonded joints, as well as make a very rough, lumpy surface. Hence, we have recently successfully developed a glossy and extremely low shrinkage adhesive (brand name: KA004AB) that can be cured at room temperature, without the need for surface treatment or primer to successfully and easily attach TPO substrates, as well as inert plastic materials. Fig. 1 shows the conventional adhesive applied to PP and PMMA substrates with the lumpy surface. The polymerization shrinkage rate of KA004 can be reduced or controlled, thereby providing a glossy and extremely low shrinkage surface on the substrates (Fig. 2). Fig. 3 is the actual application of adhesive on the outer ring of the lens. The material of the component shown is the gap between the PP lens holder and the PMMA lens. Fig. 4 shows the result of adhesive after applying to the component gap and cured, which shows a smooth and low shrinkage surface effect.
The shear strength of KA004AB is on PP (40 Kgf / cm2) and PMMA (55 Kgf / cm2). Recently, we are experimenting and developing new products with higher-level performance, which can be used for Hetero Material Adhesive jointing common plastic substrates and metal substrates, so please continue to support and advise us.
