Experiment § STPU adhesive without tin catalyst
Many organotin catalysts are restricted because of their reproductive toxicity, so their concentration must be below 1000ppm(0.1%). Dibutyltin (DBT) is one of them. It is widely used in Silane terminated silicone (STPU) and its amount must be up to 8000~ 15000ppm to make the curing rate reach the practical stage. Because of the above reasons, the search for DBT alternatives has become a major issue for domestic and foreign manufacturers. FS100 series developed by Everwide Chemical does not contain DBT catalyst. The hardening performance is very similar to that of the same grade. The table above is a comparison of adhesive strength between FS100 and competitors on different materials. Activity § Disaster prevention
The raw material we use is Nonylphenol (CAS: 25154-52-3), which has reproductive toxicity and is listed as the first category of toxic chemicals. The twice a year poison education training and disaster prevention drills, as well as an unwarned drill, let everyone know the types of poisons listed in the company's raw materials and the prevention methods. The first half of the disaster prevention drill was completed two weeks ago (Figure 1). The drill included poison spill, fire, rescue, and evacuation. The colleagues who participated in this drill completed the steps of discovering leaks (Figure 2), protective clothing, disaster handling (Figure 3), disaster recovery, rescue and bandaging (Figure 4) and evacuating to the hospital, and assemble the on-site personnel to evacuate upwind (Figure 5), and then count the number of people after evacuation. Disaster prevention drills for poisons can strengthen the common sense and on-the-spot response of disaster response. In the event of a disaster, people can quickly and correctly deal with it and minimize the loss of personnel and property.

Knowledge § Why can't the viscosity data of different manufacturers be compared with each other?
Viscosity can vary depending on the speed of the viscometer, the geometry of the rotor, the basis for reading data, the method of sample preparation, the control of ambient temperature, the level of instrument calibration, and even the principle of instrument testing. These variables are not well documented in the technical data of most manufacturers. These differences may not be significant for measurements of low viscosity and Newtonian fluids, but they may be significant for measurements of high viscosity and non-Newtonian fluids. In order to know what the viscosity is, or which brand's product has a higher viscosity. The best way is to unify the products of different manufacturers by a specific instrument to test at the same time so that the comparison has the highest level of confidence.
Living § Academic is a profession
I talked with my senior brothers about the past of studying in graduate school: from 1995 to 1997, I was educated by Mr. Zhang Fengzhi from the Department of Applied Chemistry at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. I remembered that when we had an experiment, we often eat instant noodles when we are hungry, and sleep in recliners when we are tired. The students are young and have good physical strength. Because they hope to graduate successfully, so they have experiments desperately. But our teacher always arrives at the office at 7 in the morning and returns to the dormitory after 11 in the evening. What I really didn’t understand at that time was that he had already been qualified as a full professor. and had published more than 100 papers, won the National Science Council Excellence Award three times in a row, and could retire comfortably in a few years. Why did he work so hard? A few days ago I thought of a book "Academic as a Career" by the German sociologist Weber in the 19th century and suddenly realized that the title of the book was the answer. Let me first explain the nature of academic research: everyone who engages in research knows that their results will soon be outdated and surpassed by others and this is the progress of the academic circle. How did my teacher face this kind of inexhaustible fate and still be able to struggle for a lifetime? I think the keyword is "professional": it seems to be something called by God to dedicate a lifetime to do. If you change the "professional" to "career", so what is the salary of this career? How long are the working hours? Ugh! The artistic conception is immediately lost. Sometimes I am wondering if I can get professional depth in this job at Everwide? Do I like this job? What does this job mean to me? I believe that the clearer we think about these issues, the better our work will be.
