Equipment § Thermogravimetric Analyzer

The structure of Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) is like a precise microbalance. One end of the balance is placed in a device that can be heated. The test object is placed inside; the other end of the balance is composed of electromagnetic elements that sense weight. By introducing a specific gas into the heated device and selecting the program and rate of temperature change, the relationship between the weight change of the material and the temperature or time can be obtained. TGA experiments are mainly used to determine the composition of substances or to speculate on the thermal stability of substances; this technique can analyze changes in the weight of substances due to decomposition, oxidation, or dehydration. TGA can be used to measure: 1. Thermal decomposition temperature Td of materials, 2. Content of solvent or moisture, 3. Thermal stability, 4. Oxidative stability of materials, 5. Composition of multi-component substances, 6. Evaluation Product life cycle, 7. Dynamic decomposition kinetics of material, 8. Effect of reaction or corrosive gas on material 9. Filler content.


Experiment § Refractive index of myopia lenses

Recently, many demands for a high refractive index on optical films have emerged. Generally speaking, the refractive index of acrylic resin is between 1.47 and 1.55, while the refractive index of high-refractive UV-curable resin can be as high as 1.58. The refractive index of Everwide's current products can reach 1.564, and it continues to innovate and break through the needs of high refractive index. From the personal myopia lens: 1. Glass lens: 1. Standard lens: lens with a refractive index of 1.523. 2. Thin lenses (middle refractive index lenses): lenses with a refractive index of 1.6. 3. Ultra-thin lenses (lenses with high refractive index): lenses with a refractive index of 1.702. 4. Ultra-thin lenses: lenses with a refractive index of 1.8. 2. Resin lens: (Acetate, Cellulose Acetate) A. Standard sheet: lens with a refractive index of 1.499. B. Thin sheet: a lens with a refractive index of 1.56. C. Ultra-thin: lenses with a refractive index of 1.6. D. Ultra-thin lenses: lenses with a refractive index of 1.67. 2. Acrylic lenses: ordinary cheap sunglasses lenses, refractive index 1.49. 3. PC lenses: impact-resistant safety lenses, refractive index 1.58.

It is also worth mentioning that the refractive index of diamonds is as high as 2.419 (as shown in the attached table), coupled with the precise calculation of the cutting angle, so that the incident light of different angles, after continuous total reflection in the diamond, is emitted from the same specific angle. Many incident energies accumulate, resulting in a dazzling, shining light from a specific viewing angle.

In addition, the well-known crystal brand Swarovski adds lead oxide into the glass to make the refractive index up to 1.70. It is also widely used in chandeliers, mirrors, drinking glasses, artworks, etc. Comparing two costly stones (or materials), we can only sigh: diamonds are forever, and one is fatal!

Knowledge § Tg is not obvious?

When measuring Tg, what is the reason why Tg is not obvious? How to solve it?

The most common reason for an insignificant Tg is that the internal stresses of the material are not released. Stress is usually relieved by annealing: heating the test piece to a temperature near Tg and then slowly cooling down, the Tg can be displayed.

For some materials, the Tg itself is not obvious because of a high degree of crosslinking or high crystallinity, and MDSC can be used to improve the analysis ability.


Product § JB882-2

JB882-2 is a single-component low-chlorine epoxy resin adhesive developed for electronic products. The chlorine content of this resin is lower than that of previous epoxy resins and meets more stringent chlorine content standards. This product forms a strong structure with excellent shear, tear and impact strength. JB882-2 has excellent durability and can pass many different environmental tests. This resin can bond between metals and different materials such as composites, ceramics, glass, rubber, and plastics. This product complies with chlorine <900ppm, bromine <900ppm, chlorine+bromine <1500ppm.
