New equipment § Tensile machine using the temperature control box
In order to study temperature and adhesive strength, Everwide Chemical installed a temperature control box on the original universal tensile machine. Compared with the original room temperature environment, the installation of this equipment can carry out related experiments between -40 °C and 180 °C. The steps and specifications of our test piece are as follows:
1. Choose an aluminum sheet with a length x width x height of 50 x 25 x 2mm as the standard material.
2. Divide the above-mentioned aluminum sheets into three pieces, and use the adhesive to be tested to overlap each other according to Figure 1.
3. Figure 2 is a structural diagram of the test piece used for the adhesive strength test used in this experiment. The following table shows the tensile force data obtained by JB848 at different temperatures.
Experiment § Analysis of defective products
A customer's product has surface fogging and wrinkling after being encapsulated with glue. After the product was subjected to a thermal shock test, the result was poor airtightness. The phenomenon of surface fogging and wrinkling may be that the flux floats on the surface of the colloid when the colloid is poured so that the colloid cannot be cured completely, and fogging and wrinkling occur. The residual flux on the parts will also cause the colloid to peel off from the parts, resulting in air leakage and the phenomenon often occurs in epoxy-infused printed circuit board applications. According to past experience, placing electronic parts in a solvent and ultrasonic cleaning can finally clean the flux and get a smooth and flat hardened surface. Figure 3 uses GC-Mass spectroscopy to demonstrate that the contaminants recovered on the part are flux.
Knowledge § What is the definition of gel time?
Gel time refers to the time for the resin to react until it can hardly flow and finally form a colloid. The reaction rate of the resin when it reaches gel time is about 30~40%, depending on the composition. When recording the gel time, the temperature of the environment and the weight of the resin should be recorded at the same time. The gelation time can be measured simply by using a viscometer, a gelation time meter, or even a toothpick. The gelation time is not a very precise value. Some resins have a very slow reaction speed, but if they are used for several hours, it is not suitable to indicate a simple gelation time value. It is recommended to use the usable time instead.
Product introduction § EX329
EX329 resin is an adhesive epoxy resin developed for metal materials. The resin system has the characteristics of good processability and thixotropy, and rapid reaction molding above 120℃. The cured product has high adhesive strength and low water absorption, making it suitable for use in many harsh environments. This product has good fatigue resistance and anti-cracking properties and can be used in the bonding of general parts.

When I was a doctoral student, I occasionally visited clients with my uncle. At that time, the most common sentence I said in front of clients was: "Good friend, please help me try it out!" Some customers will be full of doubts because they do not know whether we are serious about developing this glue, or just making it for customers to try. Because in the past when instruments and equipment were lacking, it was a last resort to say this. Now our equipment is too numerous to enumerate, "Old friend, please help me try it!" The best combination of examples: because I tested it with a ring tester, because I tested it with a tensile machine, because I tested it with a spectrum, and it's almost the same as the competition Because I have tested the resin flow behavior with a point gum machine.
