Experiment § Hot glue with no white spots
Epoxy hot glue is composed of powdered curing agent dispersed in the resin (Figure 1).Carbon fiber is impregnated with the above hot glue to form a prepreg material. When this material is thermoformed, the hot glue will flow first, and then the curing agent will dissolve into the resin to cure. If the hot glue has a long time to flow before the curing agent is used in the resin, the powdered curing agent may be intercepted by the carbon fiber and form white spots on the surface of the composite material. This phenomenon is similar to the principle that the filter screen intercepts the sand. There are two ways to reduce white spots: 1. In terms of materials, the use of finer powder can reduce the chance of being sieved by fibers;2. In terms of manufacturing process, if we want to reduce the flow and want the curing agent reacts quickly, there is no mechanism for sieving the powder and granules. Sometimes the phenomenon of white spots is not obvious, and it can only be seen at a certain angle, so no one dares to say that there will be no white spots at all. The solution is to use two-component resin to impregnate the fibers. Since the resin and curing agent are both liquid, there is no problem of powder flow.

Activity § Things happened in 2018
The students of South Taiwan University of Science and Technology used Everwide resin to create an environmentally friendly and energy-saving car (Figure 1).Students from the National Cheng Kung University Formula Racing came to the factory to learn about the resin and composite materials that needed to make the car body (Figure 2).The students enthusiastically asked questions in order to produce the conceived design drawings. We also taught each other and hoped that the students could break through the barriers. Every year we will go to NYUST and NFU for annual intern recruitment (Figure 3).We hope that students will learn what the textbooks do not teach and enhance their competitiveness. At the Adhesion & Joining Expo Tokyo, everyone worked hard to learn from each other and absorb new knowledge (Figure 4).In the winter solstice this year, everyone has a bowl of glutinous rice balls (Figure 5). In addition to symbolizing reunion, we also look forward to the new year, putting aside the old and developing a new pattern.
Knowledge §The four generations of plastic: the first generation
The first generation of polymer: polymer materials synthesized before the 1950s.From the emergence of the first real plastic (bakelite) made entirely of synthetic artificially materials in 1905, research on plastics flourished. In 1938, natural rubber was vulcanized and cured, and in 1942, synthetic rubber SBR was developed. In 1953, P.J. Flory published Principles of Polymer Chemistry, which represented a staged arrangement of knowledge. Therefore, the first generation of polymers used 1950 as the benchmark. The current five general-purpose plastics PE, PP, ABS, PS, PVC are all products of this generation, which are widely used in the people's livelihood industry to manufacture plastic bags, films, bottles, home appliance shells, disposable tableware, plastic tubes, plastic skins, etc.
Story § Record of going north
Before dawn, I started the journey with my suitcase. Looking at the scenery outside the train window all the way from night to day; from the endless horizon to high-rise buildings. “Passengers, we are about to arrive in Taipei. Please remember your belongings and prepare to get off the train.” Walking out of the platform, oncoming was the sun full of possibilities and hope. The warm sunlight fell on the body, dissolving the pressure accumulated during the day. I stepped forward to meet my friends, and the short story of going north kicked off.Participating in an exhibition—"Galaxy Studio" saw the progress of technology and realized that there is still a lot of room for the development of mobile phones. From the evolution of the previous Brick phone to the present, the future of technology is beyond our imagination. Only by understanding everything can we walk at the forefront and top of the world. When sighing, I encountered an airplane whizzing overhead (picture 1), and Wright Brothers struck me when I saw the airplane. They are not the first to perform aircraft flight tests, but their creation and design laid the foundation for the practical use of aircraft, and because of their efforts, we can shorten the distance and time to all parts of the world. At this moment, my head is full, but my appetite still needs to be satisfied, so I took the MRT to Raohe Night Market (Figure 2).I bought a variety of snacks and sat on the nearby Keelung River for a break, enjoying Taiwanese specialties and admiring the Rainbow Bridge (Figure 3,4).In addition to experiencing snacks, you can also have a visual feast. The breeze is blowing along with the bridge decorated with LED lights, and the decorative art makes the night no longer dark and illuminates the otherwise silent river bank. Bridges can be used as links, connecting each other and shortening the time of communication, allowing more time to communicate with people, and bridges are thus created.Technology, food, and culture make this short story of going to north a perfect ending.
