Experiment § Non-silica thermal grease
Most of the thermal grease sold on the market are mainly siliceous systems, but their components contain siloxanes with small molecular weights. Under long-term high-temperature use, siloxanes are easy to migrate to nearby electronic components due to volatilization, resulting in abnormal electrical properties and inability to function normally. We have developed the JD655 series of non-silicone thermal grease without the above problems. The JD655 series uses synthetic ester oil as the carrier uses insulating alumina as the thermal conductive filler, and specially introduces nano-grade and submicron-scale alumina, which increases the weight ratio of the thermally conductive filler to 94 wt% (Figure 1). We conducted experiments with reference to the ASTM E1530 standard, and its thermal conductivity is up to 6.89 W/m‧K. This thermally conductive filler has several advantages: good flow properties at high filling loads (Figure 2). Only insulating alumina is used as the filler, and the finished product is a white paste without doping conductive metal powder. In terms of thermal conductivity, it was measured on a hot plate with another commercially available non-silica thermal paste called 9 W/m‧K, and the results are shown in Figure 3: JD655 thermal grease has better heat transfer properties, so the surface temperature is higher than other products sold in the market. Activity § ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 re-evaluation passed
On August 30, 2023, the routine external audit of the ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems was conducted, and this year is a triennial renewal reassessment. This time, three professional teachers visited and conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the system architecture of various departments of the company. The teachers gave us a lot of directions and suggestions for improvement, and we successfully passed the re-evaluation after a lot of hard work. A very important spirit of the quality system is "continuous improvement", and we will always strive to make Everwide continue to improve (Figure 1~5).
Knowledge § What is a Blocking-type PU? (2)
There are many types of blocking agents, and the temperature at which the reverse reaction occurs is also different, most of them are between 120-180°C, which can control the reaction we want according to different processes. For example, the baking paint of steel plate is made by combining Blocking-type PU with polyol and solvent. This formulation is very stable at room temperature, when the solvent volatilizes, then undergoes a deblocking reaction, and finally, the isocyanate and polyol cured to form baking paint. If phenols are used as a blocking agent, this blocking type PU is mixed with polyamines, and the replacement reaction will be carried out at room temperature to release the blocking agent and cure it into thermosetting PU. This blocking type PU can be mixed with epoxy resin and react with amine curing agents to improve the toughness of epoxy resin. The reaction release of the blocking agent is a phenolic, which will remain in the cured matter, sometimes exude a specific taste, and sometimes cause the color of the cured product to be unstable, which is the disadvantage of this formulation.
Living § Alishan Mian Yue Line
The MianYue Line is a branch line of the Alishan Railroad, which was built during the Japanese colonial period to transport huge logs that had been cut down. Starting at Alishan New Station and ending at Shi Hou Station, this branch line total length is 9.2 km and passes through a total of "24 bridges and 12 tunnels" along the way, and there are many people who say that it has excellent views. Before entering the MianYue Line, I would walk along the Alishan Wooden Trail, where the towering cedar trees on both sides release the forest's Phytoncide. Every few kilometers after entering the MianYue Line, you will see water storage tanks, which were installed in the past to prevent fires from burning when steam trains were running on smoke. Some of the railroad tracks are as high as 20 to 30 meters deep, which is like entering a world in a painting. There are also natural collapses where you need to climb ropes to proceed, so it is not recommended for those who are afraid of heights! After a long walk, we arrive at Shi Hou Station, which is also the end point of this trip. We took a break to eat and expected to be back before 3p.m. But the weather was not kind and it rained on the way back, so we had to walk 9 kilometers in the mud holding an umbrella. At that time, I just wanted to arrive quickly and walk faster, but I was worried about spraining my feet when I stepped on the stones. At this time, the small train seemed to understand our feelings and drove the last train for us, sending us back to Alishan Station. This first experience was tough but felt great.
