Experiment § Moisture analyzer

Some applications require control of the moisture content of the material. In order to improve the quality of our products and to respond to customer needs more quickly, we have purchased a new moisture analyzer KF-31 (Figure 1) from the original volumetric moisture analyzer. The interface of the new instrument is clearer, faster, and more accurate for testing products with low moisture content (Figure 2~4).Both the volumetric method and the coulometry use iodine from the Karl Fischer reagent to react with the water in the test article to measure the water content. The volumetric method has the advantage of being able to measure water content in the range of 0.1 to 100 %, whereas thecoulometry can only measure water content in the range of 10 to 10,000 ppm. The coulometric method expands the scope of moisture content testing, and the addition of electrodes without and with a diaphragm (Figure 5) improves the data error caused by the different moisture content of solvents when testing solvent-based products. Electrolytes without a diaphragm requiring only an anode can test alcohol. Electrolytes with a diaphragm requiring both anode and cathode can test aldehydes and ketones. The new moisture analyzer can measure lower concentrations and can be applied to more chemical materials, which is a great tool for our product development and quality control. ——Author: Mr. Wen-Hao,Cai


Activity § Verified by Greenhouse Gas

In recent years, the global green supply chain trend has taken shape, and ESG-related environmental responsibility issues have attracted a lot of attention, we and our customers have gradually begun to pay attention to it, and we expect that our suppliers can propose the international certification of ISO 14064-1.In the last twoyears, when Everwide conducted carbon inventory management, at the initial stage, in order to collect data on greenhouse gas emission-related activities, different departments used various methods, set up their own calculation formulas, and searched for coefficients, etc., which took a lot of time.Later, the system was imported and the calculation of carbon emissions was done automatically through the carbon coefficient database built into the system. We have also successfully passed the ISO 14064-1 Association Francaise de Normalisation AFNOR international validation in August 2023, which not only contributes to the corporate image of sustainable environmental responsibility but also enhances our competitiveness in the market of the green supply chain.


Knowledge § HDT for temperatureresistant resins

Heat Distortion Temperature (HDT) is an indicator used to evaluate the temperature resistance of a material. When a customer uses Everwide's temperature-resistant resin for the HDT test, the result only 60 ℃. There is a difference of 100 ℃ compared to the 160℃ obtained when the test is sent to SGS. The reason for this is that Everwide's test pieces are baked to rearrange the molecular structure and improve the Tg. The customer conducts the test directly on the machine after UV curing, and if the curing is incomplete, it will result in a 100℃ difference in the test results. This is a detail that must be taken into consideration when applying materials.


Living § International Optoelectronic Exhibition

I drove from Douliu at 6:00 a.m. and went to Taipei to participate in the International Optoelectronic Exhibition (IOE). This exhibition made me more clear about the application direction of our products. At the exhibition, when Lei discussed with the manufacturer that there was a soft gasket in the middle of the workpiece that needed to strengthen the adhesion, Lei immediately suggested that silicon could be solve the problem, which reminded me of what my boss said: "Research and development have to put forward our own viewpoints, so that when we come across a problem, we can cultivate our logical and enhance expression ability. Let the customer see the hope, and can continue to the next stage of discussion and development." When confronted with the needs of different manufacturers, we can first determine whether they are upstream or downstream industries, indicate our products (Epoxy, UV adhesive, Silicon, and MS Silicon), and ask the other party about the material of the product and whether it is used in the adhesive, etc. The more we understand each other's needs, the more we can find opportunities for cooperation, and we can also bring each other's needs to the corresponding business and R&D to assist in solving them. At the same time, understanding the number of exhibitors and market demand, helps us to grasp the market opportunities. The designs and posters on each booth are important elements that attract attention. The poster design of some booths provides product features, testing methods, and conditions, which can provide more parameters for reference.
